Description from maker
My experience of gender is always changing, even in small ways. So this predictably unpredictable pattern felt right to represent that experience; Kaleidoscope (self-given titke); Yes, see above for my explanation of why I used this specific pattern; What fabric I had on hand; There were times that I felt overwhelmed with the options for each new angle of the pattern. So I took many breaks and space from the block along the way because putting pressure on myself to get it “right” when there is no right way would only push me in the direction of social acceptance rather than what naturally unfolded. This is much like my experience with gender identity and expression. The moment I start focusing on what I think other people want from me is when gender expression is no longer fun.
