“As a kid my family had a log cabin quilt that we used as a picnic blanket and I’ve always had a fondness for the block since. I love the way that the block is built out from the traditionally red square at the heart of the home. I’ve been thinking of this square as I explore gender and transness in my life—as an ongoing and expanding journey as I strive to feel more at home in my body. This block is made from fabric scraps leftover from clothing that I have sewn for myself.
