“Dear Eliot,

Thank you for organizing this project! It felt really special & inspiring to contribute to, I chose to inset circle construction of my block, with special fabrics making up the center, to evoke the portal that gender expansiveness has felt like for me. The construction was intimidating, but I was left at the end feeling surprised by what I was capable of — feels apt! My fabrics come from: a napkin from a home where I lived with beloved trans friends & started T; a treasured bandana from 5th grade (maybe one of my earliest gender affirming garments,) a light green play sheet I’ve had since childhood, some textured offcuts from an abolitionist banner I worked on with some trans classmates, and some lunes from to reclaimed shirts. The scraps of my gender joy, feeling-at-home journey.
