Description from maker

my armour and my might (self-given title). "I thought about colours and the balance of "masculine" and "feminine" in my something of a lazy-femme identity. I used HSTs and assorted scraps in collage to assemble these energies in the base of the panel. Some kind of subverted shield motif was always in my mind and I wanted to use lace for the traditionally feminine (both as garb and as craft) associations and for its suggestive and revealing properties, while presented in the shape of such a hardy, combative, defensive object."

Visual description

Pastel-colored fabric pieces sewn together in a patchwork design make up the background of the composition, while a white lace applique, cut into the shape of a shield, is layered over the patchwork. The lace features a design of a flower with two leaves. The background fabrics include shades of pink, purple, blue, and peach.
